    Biography

    Leslie Pearse enlisted into the RAFVR on 4 September, 1939. Following his qualification as Observer he was posted to 236 Squadron at St. Eval, flying Blenheims in the fighter role, and with them flew 27 operational sorties. Subsequently he was employed as an instructor at 24 Commonwealth Air Observer School at Moffat, Rhodesia, until early 1944. He he joined No. 460 Squadron (RAAF) on 21 October, 1944, at Binbrook flying Lancasters in 36 raids on Nuremburg, Hanover, Stuttgart, Dresden, Chemintz and Kassel. He flew his last sortie on a daylight raid to Bremen on 23 April, 1945, and was released from the Royal Air Force on 29 September, 1945.
