"For heroism at Pantelleria on 10th July 1943. A B-26 type aircraft, making a forced landing, over-shot the runway, crashed into a building and burst into flames a moment later. Running to the scene, gunner Regan tore an opening in the fuselage with his bare hands and with complete disregard for his personal safety, entered the blazing plane. He carried three of the crew members to safety and this saved their lives."
