    "Throughout all operation of this formation in the liberation of the Netherlands, Lt Brody has served with energy, courage and loyalty with the 23 Cdn Rd Regt (SP) RCA. He has worked primarily as a gun position officer but on many occasions he done a tour as a forward observation officer. During operations in Oct 44, to clear all of the Netherlands to the SOUTH bank of the River MASS, Lt Brody was wounded by an enemy sniper as he direct artillery fire from an advanced position near WOUSCHE PLANTAGE.
    Though his finger had been shot off, he insisted of staying up forward through the whole day and would not be evacuated until some twelve hours later. On discharge from hospital he resumed his position with the regiment during the winter month along the MAAS and during the final liberating sweep through eastern Holland in April when the area of the TWENTE Canal and ALMELO was cleared. His calm, quiet determination, his willingness to accept any task, and his cheerful disposition under trying conditions have made Lt Brody a highly-trusted officer and respected leader."
