On May 3, 1943 at 4:43 PM, Lockheed Ventura AE684 "EG-B" of 487 Squadron took off from Methwold in the county of Norfolk to take part in an attack on the Amsterdam-Noord power station.
At 5:45 p.m. the plane was shot down by a German night fighter and crashed in Bennebroek.
Two crew members were killed and two men were taken prisoner.
