On 08.11.1943, during the German efforts to hold the Perekop Isthmus, Hauptmann Streck launched an attack to close a gap in the frontlines with 15 men, 2 Sturmgeschütze, 2 88mm guns and 50mm/81mm mortar support. The attack was a success, and Streck was awarded the Knight's Cross in recognition of his efforts.
