Biography

Franz Winter was born on 2nd March 1917 in Hübstedt, THuringia as the only son of the later war widow Anna Winter-Möller. He ended his school in 1936 . He attended the Kriegsschule Koblenz as Fahnenjunker and was trained for a heavy machinegun company. He took part in the invasion of France in May/June 1940 as Leutnant (1939). Following he served three years on the Eastern Front with Infanterie-Regiment 80, in which he finally reached the rank of Major and the occupation os Regimentsadjutant.

After the war he worked with the Wittinger Strickwarenfabrik. Franz married Anneliese May and died on 17th March 2004.
