Biography

Born in Bolendorf, Germany, in 1895 and died there in 1979.
During the First World War, Nikolaus Schmitz was Leutnant and Oberleutnant and served in Verdun and Yper. Between both World Wars he worked with the government.
Nikolaus Schmitz was Major and batallion commanderwith a Pioniersdivision during the Second World War. He served in Africa, France and Russia. He was taken POW in 1944 by the Soviets.
