"For heroic achievement against the enemy in Germany on 27 April 1945,In the battle for ****,Germany,the machine gun squad of wich private first class Rinker was a member came under intensive hostile artillery fire wich wounded his squad leader.He immediately assumed command of the squad and led it out out of the shelled area.Upon learning that vital equipment was left in the exposed area,private first class Rinker skilfully dispersed his squad and returned for the equipment.He then reorganized his men and led them forward in the attack on a strongly entrenched enemy.As he advanced toward the foe,he was killed by enemy fire.Private First Class Rinker conspicuous gallantry and unflinching devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the Army of the United States."
