"During the period May 19th - 29th This W.O. showed a very high standard of leadership and courage and was an excellent example to those in his squadron. His troop were under fire and bombing on numerous occasions and each time he showed initiative and disregard for personal danger , exploying his troop to the best advantage and gaining valuable information.
On May 29th, at VYFWEG? (3 miles S.E. of BERGUIS?) during the withdrawal, although his tank was damaged, he remained behind to cover the withdrawal of infantry, causing numerous casualties to the enemy."
