"Dropped by parachute into Perak, Federated Malay States on 26th February, 1945, where in face of difficulties and obstruction from natives he proceeded to organise collection of intelligence. He maintained a flow of good quality intelligence which has been highly commended by Army Command. Until the Japanese surender he was Always in danger of enemy attacks, but this did not deter him from more than once taking up dangerous positions on vital L of C. Although second in command of a party, he was virtually in command for some time prior to the leader's death and his work was very largely responsible for the success of the operation, and the volume of intelligence which flowed in."
