On the morning of 9th September ? Brown as Comd of 220 Fd Amb and SMO 21 Beach Ground, showed considerbale courage and outstanding initiative and resource. He established two Beach Dressing Stations and a Main Dressing Station, all three being set up under small arms and shell fire.
The MDS was functioning at a very early stage in the operation for three days. ? Brown and his men worked at top pressuer, and as soon as circumstances permitted, a very efficient system of evacuated was organised.
In my opinion a great many men owe their lives to the fine work performed by ? Bronw and his FIeld Ambulance
