    Biography

    Johan Bloemink was born on June 23rd, 1908 as son to Johannes Wouter Antonie Bloemink, civil servant and Hendrika Alberta Schreurs. He was brother to Albert Bloemink. Johan Bloemink went to the Dutch East Indies in 1937 and there married Anna Rampisela. As Sergeant Infanterie with the KNIL he was involved in the defence of Ambon in January 1942 and was taken POW by the Japanese. On October 25th, 1942 he was transferred to Camp Hashio on Hainan. Here he died on August 23rd, 1942.
