Hendrik Merkus baron de Kock, born November 23, 1896 in Soerabaja (East Java). Employé at the Redjoagoeng sugar factory near Madioen (East Java). Sgt Tkl.Inf. in the KNIL. Captured on March 9, 1942 and deported to Thailand, where he died of malaria on June 20, 1943 in the Kanju (Kannyu) penal camp at Kanchanaburi. Father of 3 sons.
