Biography

Jacobus was born on 9 July 1926 in Herkingen, South Holland, and lived in Breda. Called up for military service, he enlisted in the Royal Netherlands Army, where he was assigned to the infantry as a soldier. Due to the outbreak of violence during the Indonesian struggle for independence, he was sent to the Dutch East Indies to restore peace and Dutch authority. He eventually ended up in the city of Medan on Sumatra, where he died of illness on 13 November 1947. Jacobus was 21 years old.
