Biography

Lieutenant Commander 1st Class Epaminondas Kontoyiannis was the commander of the submarine "Triton," which was sunk on November 16, 1942, by the German U-boat submarine chaser UJ-2102. Kontoyiannis played a key role during Operation "Albumen." He led a team of SAS commandos ashore with the mission to sabotage Heraklion Airport.

Kontoyiannis was taken prisoner of war by the German Kriegsmarine.
