During the seven weeks of fighting over the island of Oesel and the final battles on Sworbe, guard units of the Kriegsmarine, commanded by Fregattenkapitän Brauneis and Korvettenkapitän Kiefer have distinguished themselves while guarding the coast by a succesful defense against overwhelming Soviet naval forces. A special thanks goes to the seamanship of the crews of our vessels, commanded by the Chief of 9 Sicherungsdivision, Fregattenkapitän Von Blanc.
