Biography

KIA 24 June, 1944; failed to return from a reconnaissance mission over the Seine Bay France with his Messerschmitt Bf 109G-5 WerkeNr.27107 (Lw loss report gives Wnr. 27106) coded 'Blue 1 +' from 4./ Fernaufklärungsgruppe 123. Presumed shot down by a P-38 at very high altitude. Eyewitnesses said the victorios AC appeared to be twin-boomed tail. He was flying wingman for Oblt Werner Kohla. Over 170 combat missions.
He was carried as MIA until his discovery 23 November, 1996 at Ecretteville-les-Baons, France.
