08.10.1940: Leutnant, Erg. ZGr. Vaerlose interned - Fw 58 C (KT+AF) blundered into Swedish air space during a navigational training mission, forced down vic Ljungbyhed in bad weather and interned - later returned via Denmark
01.11.1941: promoted to Oberleutnant
01.12.1941: Leutnant, Wekusta 26, awarded the Ehrenpokal
16.07.1942: Oberleutnant, awarded DKiG, Wekusta 26
25.11.1942: Oberleutnant and pilot in Wekusta 26/1, MIA – in Ju 88 D-1 coded '4U+GH' believed shot down into the sea by a fighter off Algiers between the Bay of Algiers and Cape Sorrat
18.05.1943: Oberleutnant and Flugzeugführer Wekusta 26 - 6.(F)/ Aufkl.Gr. 122
posthumously awarded the Ritterkreuz
01.08.1944: officially listed as MIA
