Career:
09.1939: after completing training, transferred to 8./KG 76
08.1940: with III./KG 76
03.07.1941: WIA - by fighters in the Pskov area
15.09.1941: Oberleutnant, possibly awarded the Ehrenpokal
Early 1942: appointed Staka 5./KG 76
27.03.1942: Oblt., awarded DKG, 5./KG 76
05.09.1942: Hptm., Staka 5./KG 76 WIA- his Ju 88 A-4 (F1+MN) was hit by AA 5 km NW of Zadezha duringa mission in the Stalingrad area - flew back to base - but in spite of surgery, died two hours later in a fieldhospital at Borodkin near Nadezhda.
02.10.1942: Hptm. and Staka 5./KG 76, posthumously awarded Ritterkreuz, mainly for successful long-range attacks on rail traffic along the Caspian Sea and the destruction of north-bound tanker-car trains hauling fuel to the Soviet war machine.
Credited with 365 missions.
