"The Führer has at the suggestion of the Supreme Commander of the Luftwaffe, Reichsmarschall Göring, awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross to Generalmajor Otto Sydow, commander of a Flak division.

Generalmajor Otto Sydow, who was born as the son of a teacher on 1.2.1896 in Rosemarsow/Kreis Demmins (Pomerania), is an outstanding troop commander. His soldiers following his excellent example, he has achieved great successes in the heavy defensive battles in Serbia and Hungary through his bravery and personal devotion to duty."
