The following wartime excerpt describes why Ibrányi received the Knight’s Cross…

“The Bolsheviks captured Kecskemét and thereby directly threatened the capital city. In response Generalleutnant Ibrányi attacked the numerically superior enemy with elements of his Division and was able to recapture Kecskemét. In the subsequent heavy combat the Bolsheviks were thrown back to the Teiß river thanks to the general’s leadership at the foremost line.”
