Biography

Oberst im Generalstab Joachim Bauer joined Heer as a infantry soldier on April 1, 1924. 01.10.1933: received training in flight at the Flugzeugführerschule (C 2) Neuruppin
1935-1937: training coupled with the Generalstab course at KS 2 Berlin-Gatow
20.04.1938: served as a Luftwaffe staff officer -held various positions "behind the desk" until the end of the war - although briefly interrupted by becoming Staffelkapitän in the Aufklärungsgruppe unit for some time
22.06.1943-08.1944: Oberstleutnant i.G. - Seefliegerführer 'Schwarzes Meer' - Kertsch
12.1943: severely WIA - lost his right eye over the Crimea region
14.05.1944: awarded the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes as an Oberst im Generalstab and Seefliegerführer Schwarzes Meer / Luftflotte 4 , after being considered outstanding in building his unit to be a force to be taken into account in ocean battles against the Navy of the Soviet Union.
