Awarded for his Bataillon’s defense of the small city of Wormditten (East Prussia) at the start of February 1945. The Soviets attempted to achieved a breakthrough in this sector during this time. After they had broken into parts of Wormditten itself Böhnk and his Bataillon managed to push them back out of the city following much difficult urban combat. They then were able to hold their ground here against further Soviet breakthrough attempts.
