“Starting on the 12.03.1942 Oberstleutnant Dorow defended the village of Worchnij-Bischkin against daily attacks by enemy forces that were far superior in numbers of men and weapons. Werchnij-Bischkin is a village of operational importance in the Armee’s sector.

Oberstleutnant Dorow’s achievements as a leader have thereby had major implications for the overall conduct of the battle. His bold decisions and brave devotion to duty in the fluid village battles formed the basis for his success. His efforts ensured that the enemy failed to penetrate through the boundary between Korpsgruppe Dostler and the LI. Armee-Korps via Werchnij-Bischkin towards Liman, which would have led them into the deep flank of the LI. Armee-Korps.”
