Félicité Pierre André Heynert was born in the Dutch East indies on January 22nd, 1914 as the son of Mr. and Mrs. F.A.H. Heynert. He was educated at the Mill Hill School in London, the Sorbonne in Paris and the St Catherine's College, Cambridge.

He joined the Dutch Army but switched during the Second WOrld War to the Royal Air Force and followed a pilot training in Canada and was stationed with No. 159 Squadron., Digri, Bengal, India. He married Patricia Hall on June 26th, 1943.
He was killed flying a B-24 Liberator, EW225, after a mid air collision on July 26th, 1945. At that moment he was stationed as a staff pilot with the Air Fighting Training Unit (posted 20 October 1944), based at Amarda Road airfield, Orissa, India.

Citation:
"As captain of a Liberator aircraft this officer has completed many operational missions of a varied nature, including bombing and minelaying by night and by day.
In March, 1944, he was detailed to attack Rangoon. Opposition from anti-aircraft fire was intense over the target and difficulty in identifying the target was experienced. Five runs had to be made before the exact objective was located and, on the fifth, the aircraft was illuminated by search lights and attacked by two night fighters. Despite this, Flight Lieutenant Heynert continued the run until the bombs had been released and a photograph obtained. Several further attacks were made by the fighters. Flight Lieutenant Heynert, displaying great skill, eventually evaded the attackers and returned to base safely. This officer has proved himself an exceptionally able pilot who has, at all times, displayed the utmost gallantry and devotion to duty."
