Ernst-Nordewin von Körber was born on February 13th, 1912 geboren as the son of Nordewin von Körber and Lia von Körber-von Diest. Later he was adopted by his grandfather and received the name von Diest-Körber, or also von Diest-von Körber.

Nordewin von Diest-Körber was awarded the Knight’s Cross on the authority of the Oberbefehlshaber der 8. Panzer-Armee on 1st May 1945 for actions near Budapest; however, in 1991 the Ordens-Prüfungskommission (Award Verification Commission) determined that the 8. Panzer-Armee was not officially given the authority to award the Knight’s Cross until 4 May, THREE DAYS after awarding the Knight’s Cross to von Diest-Körber. Therefore, the Commission rescinded his Knight’s Cross award and he no longer appears in the lists of Knights Cross winners.
