During the winter of 1941-1942, Karl-Ludwig Haedge was part of the I.Bataillon / Sturm-Regiment Reinhardt on the Eastern Front near Schaikowka. With the I.Btl. / Sturm-Regiment Reinhardt he was involved in the fightings in the center of the Eastern Front during the winter of 1942-1943 and after that in Italy with the Stab III./Btl. Fallschirm-Jäger-Regt. 12 (Sturm) Major Timm.
He served with the Stab F.J.R. 28 until the end of the war. During the last days of the war he became POW with the Soviets.
