“Oberleutnant Rudolf Schneider (commander of a Panzerjäger-Kompanie) and his messenger worked their way towards a damaged Pak gun (whose crew had been knocked out) whilst under heavy enemy fire. From here he shot up 8 enemy tanks at very close range in a heroic one-hour battle. By doing this he had a decisive share in the defense against a strong enemy armoured attack in the Rzhev area.”
