"Under personal guiding and under fire of the advancing enemy, running from weapon to weapon, Hauptmann Schröter made it possible to achieve this difficult manouvre, in spite of enemy fire, in an excellent way. Thus he achieved, helped by 12 armoured vihicles and about 6 light batteries and Sturmgeschütze, to stop the enemy waves in a massive attack at least 2 km wide, with fire from artillery and heavy and small arms from the batallion, inflicting heavy casualties among the enemy. Nine armourde vehicles were left behind. In total 24 armoured vehicles were destroyed or captured as well as 31 guns were taken in and directly in front of the lines of the I.Bataillon."
