For having distinguished himself by deeds of extraordinary courage and loyalty in action against the enemy, having participated in five bombing missions in a C-X aircraft: one unprotected mission to Valkenburg on 10 May 1940; an unprotected mission to the Moerdijk on 10 May 1940; a mission to Feyenoord on 12 May 1940; a mission to Wageningen on 13 May 1940 and immediateley thereafter a second voluntary mission to Rhenen and Wageningen. For having served as observer on the missions to Valkenburg and Feyenoord and having been in command of the leading aircraft on both missions to Wageningen.
