Recommendation:
On 19 July 1943, A Coy, the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, while advance guard to the battalion, came under heavy machine gun and mortar fire, and were pinned on the forward slope of a hill near Caltagirone (Sicily).
Pte McBride, a medical orderly in A Coy, although wounded in three places early in the action, moved from one position to another under fire, giving first aid to the wounded without thought for his own personal safety or his injuries.
His conduct was an inspiration to all ranks.
