Biography

Mieczyslaw Adamek was born in Tashkent but grew up in Poland. In 1936 he entered service in the Polish Air Force and saw action in September 1939. He claimed two victories against the Luftwaffe before he managed to escape to France via Rumenia. June 1940 he arrived in England and was posted to 303 Squadron. Afterwards he served in 317 Squadron as Flight Commander. On May 18th, 1944, while on a Ranger mission over Dreux, he was shot down and lost his life.
