"Squadron Leader Peveler has completed many sorties against heavily defended targets in Germany. He also led a section of four aircraft which carried parachute troops to the raid on Bruneval on February 27th, 1942. Squadron Leader greatly assisted in the training necessary for this operation, which contributed largely to the success achieved. He has at all times displayed great courage and determination in pressing home his attacks and has done much to maintain his squadron at its present high standard."

"In December,1942, Wing Cdr. Peveler and P/O. Stewart were captain and rear gunner respectively of an aircraft engaged in a search for the crew of an aircraft lost at sea. When leaving the area after searching lor 12 hours, three Ju 88s attacked their aiicrait. P/O. Stewan gave a splendid running commentary on the movement ol the enemy aircraft which enabled his captain to take evasive action. Wing Cdr. Peveler manoeuvred hie aircraft with superb skill and determination until safety was gained in the clouds, but the bomber had been damaged and the second pilot and bomb aimer wounded. Some time later a further attack was made by three F.W. 190s. In the ensuing combat, despite the heavy odds, P/O. Stewart, by his accurate shooting, shot down one of the fighters and damaged another, while the third was driven off. Displaying magnificent airmanship. Wing Cdr. Peveler flew his badly damaged aircraft safely back to this country. P/O. Stewarts coolness and gallantry very materially assisted his captain throughout this hazardous operation."

"Wing Cdr. Peveler has been in charge of an O.T.U. detachment since October, 1942. The exceptionally high standard of morale attained has been largely due to the skill and leadership of this officer. Undeterred by adverse weather, he has invariably taken part in searches for missing aircraft and has worked long hours uncomplainingly."
