Biography

Joachim Berger served as Kommandant "U 87" from August 19th, 1941. He was killed in action when his ship was sunk on March 4th, 1943 by H.M.C.S. Shediac and H.M.C.S. St. Croix of Convoi AHL49 at 41.36N / 13.31W . During fivr operational sails (260 days at sea) he sunk five ships with a total of 38.014BRT. Joachim berger finally had reached the rank of Kapitänleutnant.
