Biography

Gijp Kreukniet was enlisted at Amersfoort as Dienstplichtig Soldaat on April 11th, 1939 and was placed with the 18e Regiment Infanterie. When war broke out he was with his unit detailed to defend a bridge ofe the Berkel near Zutphen.

April 11th, 1939: Enlisted, 18e Regiment Infanterie, Amersfoort;
September 1939: 3e Compagnie, 18e Grensbataljon (3-18GB), Zutphen;
April 5th, 1939: added to the 4e Compagnie, IIIe Bataljon, 35e Regiment Infanterie (4-III-35RI), Fort Westervoort.
