Biography

Sydney Hennan was born in 1906 as the son to John Brown and Gertrude Annie Hennan. He married in 1934 to Elsie Rothwell. The couple had one daughter.
Sydney Hennan joined the RAF in 1939 as Flight Sergeant Engineer and was placed with No. 466 (RAAF) Squadron.
He was shot down in his Handley Page Halifax HX312 on January 22nd, 1944, returning form a raid on Magdeburg, by Oberleutnant Hans-Heinz Augenstein in his Messerschmitt Me 110 nightfighter.
The Halifax crashed near De Lutte in Overijssel, the Netherlands. Of the seven crew members, five, among them was Sydney Hennan, were killed and two were taken Prisoner of War.
