Colonel Millett was captured on 9 June 1944 near Amfreville and became a prisoner of war (POW).

"Col Millett was a POW at Oflag 64 in Szubin, Poland after being captured near Amfreville, France on June 9, 1944. I do not know of his journey after his capture until his July 12, 1944 arrival, possibly from Chalons sur Marne, with 19 other POW officers, at Limberg an der Lahn, one of his temporary POW camps. I believe that my father, Lt Col Nathaniel R. Hoskot, was the ranking POW among his group of POWs at Limberg until Col Millett''s arrival. They both reached Oflag 64 on July 16, 1944."
