Biography

Joined the 6eme regiment infanterie coloniale and was taken prisoner of war in June 1940. In August 1942 he escaped and was arrested by the Gestapo in March 1943. After escaping again he fled via Spain and joined the BCRA in Algiers in November 1943. He was then transferred to the parachutist troops. After regrouping in England he took part in operations:
Auchinleck : February 1944 - June 1944 with HQ, 4th Bataillon SAS, 2nd R.C.P.
Was wounded during a training jump in May 1944 and joined the 4th SAS.
Dingson : 3rd August 1944 - 5th August 1944.
Paris : 21st August 1944 - 29th August 1944.
Spenser : 26th August 1944 - 14th September 1944 with 4th Squadron.
Franklin: 24th December 1944 - 30th January 1945 with Command Squadron.
Amherst : From 4th April 1945 with 12/3rd Squadron, 4th SAS.
He was wounded in the assault on Westerbork, the Netherlands on 8th April 1945.
