    "Ever since he was dropped in YGOSLAVIA by parachute six months ago Major Deakin has shown great initiative and devotion to duty under trying and dangerous circumstances.. His personal courage in action on numerous conditions has served to enhance British prestige in YUGOSLAVIA and to establish good relations with the PARTISANS. In particular his bravery and his undurance after being wounded during the Fifth German offensive in May, 1943, when the PARTISAN forces narrowly escaped extermination by overwhelming numbers of the enemy won the admiration of all concerned. His work in YOGOSLAVIA has been of great importance and lasting value."
