Recommendation November 21st, 1946, section 6 no. 4:
Has distinguished himself by courageous and tactful conduct in connection with hostile action and thereby serving the interests of the Kingdom on April 13th and 14th, on May 11th and 12th and from May 26th to 29th 1948 as commanding officer of usually two infantryplatoons in the area Middle Bali having engaged the local resistance group in an effective manner in combined actions; as well as in the period between May 20th to June 6th 1948 in his capacity as head of military intelligence, in which period this resistance group capitulated.
In particular on May 31st, 1948 near Antagona (middle Bali) when the resistanceparty in the area of Antosari had been cornered after these actions and a possible opportunity was created for them to capitulate and he, on his own intiative, entirely voluntary, unarmed and accompanied by only one of the former resistance leaders, made personal contact in the field with a number of well known and notorious gangmembers involving great personal risk for himself.
By this conduct the capitulation was achieved within three days, without bloodshed and with the surrender of all weapons of the resistance people involved with the result that armed resistance on central Bali was temporarily suspended.
