Lieutenant Stanislaw Kotorowicz was part of the Cichociemni; special trained paratroopers who were tasked with providing support to the Polish resistance. He died of his wounds on 19 or 20 May 1943, after a rescue operation of prisoners in Celestyno. The operation resulted in the liberation of 49 prisoners.
