"On 26th April 1945 Captain Józefowicz, attached to Battalion Headquarters 8th Infantry Battalion was informed that one Squadron 10th Mounted Rifles was being subjected to heavy mortar and artillery fire suffering losses. Realising that it was not possible for the OP tank carrying the troop commander to go into action owing to damaged state of road, he took his jeep and drove to the forward squadron near Strucklingen / MR 963042 M2 where he engaged enemy artillery and mortar positions. His intervention was successful and by his prompt action the enemy targets were silenced and further casualties prevented, throughout the operation Captain Józefowicz set a fine example of resourcefulness, efficiency and calmness under fire and it was largely due to his initiative that the advance could be resumed".
