Biography

Hauptmann d.R. z.V. Gerhard Hoyermann died of his wounds after Stuka dive bombers accidentally attacked his encampent on 19 September 1942. His son, Kajak Gerhard Wilhelm, was killed on 17 September 1943.

Gerhard Hoyermann was born as the son of Gerhard Hoyermann (1835-1911) and his wife Erna Augusta Johanna Quitzrau (1873-1919). He had two brothers and one sister and 10 half-sisters from the first marriage of his father. Gerhard grew up on the estate Gut Lohne near Hannover, today community Isernhagen. He married Martha Adele Groos and had three children: Kajak Gerhard Wilhelm born 1920, who died in WW2 on September 17, 1943 in Shitomir, Ukraine, daughter Annemarie Laura born 1921 and son Hans-Herbert born 1926.
