    Biography

    Walter Hätzold received his military basic training with the Kriegsmarine and then changed to the Luftwaffe for pilot training. Here he reached the rank of Oberfeldwebel and was classified to fly with the Junkers Ju 52/3m, deHeinkel He 111 and the Focke-Wulf Fw 200. During the Second World War he flew the Focke-Wulf Fw 200. A training to officer was halted due to the ending of the war and Hätzold became for a short period POW with the British.
