Biography

20.02.1945: 'U 1230', under Kaleunt Hans Hilbig, left Kristiansand and moved to Flensburg then to the shipyard in Wesermünde.
Shortly before the end of the war it went from Wesermünde via Kiel and Rendsburg to Heligoland. There the boat capitulated and moved back to Wilhelmshaven.
24.06.1945: 'U 1230', under Kaleunt Hans Hilbig, left Wilhelmshaven to Loch Ryan. There it was handed over to the British and the rest of the crew was taken prisoner of war.
'U 1230' was scuttled during the Operation Deadlight.
