Awarded for his actions on the 17.07.1944, in which he was killed in action east of Kapciamestis during his fifth counterthrust of the day. Seckler had left the hospital (in which he was recovering from his last wound) and returned to his unit prematurely in order to be with his hard-pressed troops during this difficult period of combat. He would be awarded the Knight’s Cross for his achievements and devotion to duty on this day.
