“Knight’s Cross for a Pomeranian Rittmeister - The Conqueror of Elista is Recognized:

The Führer has awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross to Rittmeister Eitel Goll, commander of a Radfahrabteilung.

… While serving as the leader of a Vorausabteilung he stormed the city of Elista with his available mobile forces. This success (achieved in the face of much larger enemy forces) was reported in the Wehrmachtbericht of the 13.08.1942.”
