"Lieutenant Colonel Iliński, was one of the original members of the Polish Military Mission to SHAEF (Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force) which was formed in March 1944.

During the planning stage prior to D-Day, his foresight and knowledge of Polish Military and Political problems was of inestimable value to Supreme Headquarters AEF.

When Supreme Headquarters moved overseas he was the senior Polish Officer to accompany them and in that capacity, he has been entirely responsible for the successful handling of Polish affairs under the most difficult circumstances.

He has shown great devotion to duty and an unusual understanding of British and American problems, which had greatly lightened the work of Supreme Headquarters.

In addition his tact and readiness to help have been greatly appreciated by all the officers of SHAEF Liaisons with which his work has brought him in contact".
