"In October 1944 Major Lenkiewicz was put in charge of Polish Corps Advanced Administration post responsible for organisation of maintenance and accommodation of the Corps when engaged along Route 67 during the winter Apennines Campaign. Despite very difficult road and weather and transport conditions, formations of the Corps were successfully accommodated and maintained owing to Major Lenkiewicz's energy, resourcefulness and Initiative. In his capacity as DAQMG during winter 1944/45, Major Lenkiewicz was responsible for administration and maintenance of not only units of 2 Polish Corps but also of 10 Corps and Eighth Army troops.

Throughout this whole period major Lenkiewicz always carried out his duties in a most efficient and exemplary manner and has contributed very greatly thereby to the success of the Corps operations."
