Methner’s Knight’s Cross recommendation reads as follows…

“Hauptmann Methner succeeded in repulsing armoured enemy assault formations thanks to his personal bravery and swift insight. His unit destroyed 16 enemy tanks, and with this a decisive enemy drive towards the IJsselmeer (which, if successful, would have cut off one-and-a-half friendly divisions) was prevented. This represents an outstanding success for the higher commands.”
